It is with great sadness that we have to announce Atsushi Oshima passed away in the arms of his wife at the age of 61 on the morning of March 30, 2015 after valiantly battling with cancer since last summer.
He was a much beloved and respected founding partner of our firm. He started his trademark firm “AOA” by himself with great enthusiasm and commitment nine years ago. AOA soon earned a formidable reputation as a respected firm and attracted good people who remain with ONM today.
Atsushi was an energetic professional who always had new ideas. Atsushi decided to merge with N&M and established the largest trademark firm in Japan, which is now ONM. Atsushi’s encyclopedic knowledge of trademark law was unprecedented. It was indeed a privilege for our firm to have his wealth of knowledge and expertise at our disposal. Atsushi was still skillfully practicing trademark law during his battle with cancer. His dedication and professionalism thoroughly inspired us. All of us at ONM would turn to Atsushi who offered practical legal advice and affectionate firm management. Our thoughts are with Atsushi’s family and friends.
In accordance with the wishes of Atsushi’s family, the private funeral was held by family members and close relatives on April 4, 2015.
May his spirit rest in peace.
