As we step into 2023, it’s heartening to hear the uplifting news that the prolonged threat of the pandemic is subsiding, bringing vibrancy back to human interactions and contributing to a steady recovery of the Japanese economy. However, the palpable improvement in our living environment due to rising prices may still be a work in progress.

This year, a letter of consent is at last in effect. ONM has been actively involved in activities such as surveys on consent systems abroad and interviews with the Patent Office to prepare for legal amendments. Hence, the introduction of the consent system holds deep significance for us.

The Patent Office is moving towards the electronic submission of all documents, marking the true beginning of digitization. Our office has already completed the digitization of our operations and has incorporated artificial intelligence into certain internal processes. Looking ahead, we aim to implement generative artificial intelligence to provide clients with even higher quality services and greater satisfaction.
